I currently have pretty dark brown hair with blonde highlights showing through the bottom. How would I get my hair to Ash Blonde? I understand most ppl say its better to do it gradually. But I hate the inbetween look. Is there ANY way I can do it like in 1 or 2 goes? Even if it means ruining my hair? Im not suggesting I WANT to ruin my hair, because I dont, I just want to know IF its even possible to do it that quickly? You see celebrities with a diff hair colour each day haha

ABSOLUTELY go to a salon! DO NOT try to do this on your own. It is money well spent to do it at the salon and depending on how resistant your hair is, it will probably take about an hour to get you there. Your colorist will first lift (bleach) your hair to this awful yellow and then tone the yellow out to a natural looking ash blonde. If you try to do this at home, you will not get beyond the orange stage because the chemicals they sell over the counter are considerably less potent than those available in a salon. So, I cannot stress enough...GO to the salon!

I can't emphasize how important it is to go to a salon when going lighter. Darkening hair is easier to do and harder to mess up, but when going lighter the colorist must bleach your hair to a certain level (VERY easy to overdo and FRY YOUR HAIR if you're trying to do it yourself) and then even it out using dye.

In order to get a cosmetology license a person has to learn all sorts of chemistry in order to know how these things will react. Its more than just cutting hair.

I went from past-shoulder length hair to a pixie cut because I damaged my hair so badly trying to lighten it myself. It turned out coarse and became straw like, breaking off when I tried to brush it. As soon as it grew out a little bit I had to chop it all off because it was so damaged and fried.

You need to bleach it, then color over it. Gradual coloring WILL NOT WORK! I promise.

I would get kolidacolors blue. Its a kind of bleach. If you go to Sally's they have it there and will be able to tell you how to use it. It shouldnt turn orange if you leave it on long enough. Just follow the directions on the back of the packet.
