My daughter is 2 years old and wont let me wash her hair, she is terrified of me putting water over

My daughter is 2 years old and has loved her bath time sense she was 3 months, but all of a sudden she got this fear of me putting water over her head to wash her hair, I can閳ユ獩 even show her the shampoo with out her screaming bloody murder. She will set in her bath all day and play but when it comes to washing her hair it閳ユ獨 the end of the world for her. It is so hard for me to wash her hair, and when I do everybody in the house comes running to the bathroom to see if she had fallen or hit her head because she is screaming so badly. How do I wash her hair with out her crying and screaming and trying to jump out of the tub?

My lil boy was like that and he still dislikes water on his head but it's getting better and better...

I get in the bath with him and i lay him on my legs so i can hold his hea just above water and leave one of my hands at all time underneath his neck to support his head so that his head is in the water but not entirely and he can see me just above him. I talk to him while i do it and reassure him as much as i can...

Good luck!

There is no easy way. My Grandson was like this as well. You will have to put up with it until she out-grows it; and she will. It's only small stuff, so don't let it stress you.

She is two, get in the tub with her! Have her wash your hair, then she will see that there is nothing to worry about. and she will have fun washing mommies hair!

Good luck!

You can try having her lay on her back on the counter with her hair in the sink and wash it with the spray hose just like in the salon.

Worked well in our family.

Just take a little TINY bit of shampoo and put it on a wet facecloth and wipe down her head. It doesn't even have to be in the bath, the facecloth shoudln't be dripping, just wet.

It will keep her hair "clean enough" until you can work through it.

You can start by using a jug or one of those shower hoses that you can put on the end of the tap. Show her that she don't have to put her head under water to wash her hair and it is ok to use a jug or the shower thing if she is comfortable. Just put it into the bath as a toy to start off with and let her get used to it. I had the same problem with my daughter and now she lies down in the bath for me.

Well, this happens with a lot of young children. You can put water over your own head to show your daughter that it's fine. Try having other members of your family do the same to show her that water doesn't hurt you. Also try to make washing hair seem fun to her. That way, she might forget about her fears. You could also get in the bathtub with her. I hope this helps.

What I did is actually take a bath with my daughter. While I was in the bath, so she felt safe I laid her down on my leg and poured a cup on the very back of her head and worked my way up to her forehead (so she can see the water is not going in her face) Then I got out the shampoo and told her I was going to wash her hair and this is how I'm going to rinse it. After 2 baths like that she was cured and would lay down so I could rinse her hair. Also keep a towel close by in case there is a accidental "drip" in her eyes or face.

Try taking her to the store to pick out her favorite special barbie or Dora shampoo!

Make it into a really big deal, its going to be a really big day out to pick out her special shampoo and no-one else can use it! Not even mommy or daddy!

Make it so much fun that she gets to pick her own special shampoo then hopefully she will want to use it when its bath time.

If she still screams tell her that you have to bring the barbie/Dora shampoo back to the store for little girls who will wash their hair pretty.

Try letting her choose little bows and ribbons for her hair that she can only wear once her hair is washed pretty!

Once she allows you to wash her hair without screaming praise her and make a fuss about putting the bows in her hair. Ask other adults to reinforce and comment on her new pretty bows in her pretty hair "did you use your own Dora shampoo? Wow! You are such a lucky girl!"

My son wasn't as bad as screaming bloody murder but it was really hard for me to wash his hair without him crying alot. So I just told him to look at the ceiling and now I have him hold a wash cloth over his eyes so he won't get water in them. It really has changed how bath time goes. He feels like a big boy now because he can do it.

Just a little trick I learned.. Good luck

maybe u should try washing the hair over a bath pan of water , this way there is no water running from the tap, all u have to do is hold her across your leg use a rag to get the hair wet then apply shampoo, and use the same routine to rinse this way there is no water running down the childs face, good luck

My 2 year old daughter hated having her hair washed to the point of hysteria and vomiting. Little sister was similar but not as bad. She is now 3 and now washes her hair herself. These ideas worked for me. Using a water spray to wet her hair before soaping and teaching her to hold a hand towel to her forehead to stop the water running down her face when rinsing. The one that really helped was asking a customer at a hairdresser to let my daughter watch his hair being washed. He, though a complete stranger, was very kind and made happy noises etc while it was done. The next time I washed my daughters hair she wanted to sit on a chair that let her put her head back while I washed and rinsed her hair. After a few times I no longer needed the chair. She now loves soaping her hair %26amp; shaping it in front of the mirror as does little sister. They still are not fond of having it rinsed but they cope by using the hand towel. Sometimes the 3 year old will lie back with her hair in the bath and rinse it herself with my help.

Use a detachable shower head and have the water flow through it gently. Add the shampoo directly to the head so she won't notice it at first. Rub the shampoo into her hair as if you are carressing her. Before she even notices you're shampooing her, bath time is almost over. A little fun kids' music might help while you're doing all this.

My daughter had this problem as well. At first she didn't want anyone to wash her hair, period. So I gave her a barbie and told her she was responsible to make sure that her barbie had clean hair everyday. Then after or while she was washing Barbie's hair, I would do hers. Then she would rinse out Barbie's hair and I would do hers. Then she started complaining she didn't want the water on her head. So I gave her a washcloth to hold up to her forehead and it blocks the water from going into her eyes. Now that she's a little older, I turn on the faucet in the bath and let her lay under it.

My daughter is also 2 and i have the same problem. This is what i do that might help. After i get her hair wet i squirt some shampoo on the top of her head. Then i will take her liquid baby soap and put it on her hand and i tell her to ''wash wash her hands'' With the hand i have free i wash her hair. Usually she is too busy ''wash washing '' whatever body part i tell her she doesnt realize i am washing her hair.

I have a daughter who will be two on the 21st, she did the same thing. I had to make up a new game, the "Swimming Mermaid," she lays down in the water and splashes her arms and legs, while she is doing this, I gently make sure all her hair is wet. Then she sits up and she looks at the wall (I put waterproof pictures up) and as I am pointing and saying what they are, I get the shampoo in the other hand while she is looking at the pictures. She still cries a bit when the shampoo is rubbed on head, but the screaming is gone, then we go back to playing the "Swimming Mermaid" to rinse her hair.

Wow i am going through the exact same thing my daughter is 21 mths and she loves the bath but when it comes time 2 rinse her hair she hates it i know its going to hurt u but i just hold her down and rinse it she screams and cries but she gets over it as soon as i stop i tend to do all that first and then let her play in the tub for a little longer so she isnt so terrified next time

Have you ever tried holding her and singing to her while you wash her hair

and gently rub her hair.

Both my daughters would have a fit if I washed their hair. One day I realized they sell bath visors for kids it keeps the shampoo and water off their face and they don't panic as much. I also bought them a doll that has hair and can get wet, so when I wash their hair they wash their dolls hair and they feel like their in control of something. Now my only problem is I run out of shampoo constantly.
